Builders

There is a requirement under Part L1A building regulations to submit a SAP 2005 energy rating design to indicate compliance with the new regulations when you apply for planning permission. Failure to supply the documentation will result in the application being refused.

By involving me at an early stage in your design process we can ensure any improvements required to the design in order to achieve a DER pass are incorporated within the SAP 2005 submission.

Generally the uvalues for walls, roofs, floors and windows/doors need to be improved from current designs in order to achieve a DER pass. However there are other factors which affect the final result.
Once the design stage submission has been completed a full report is made available ready for submission to Building Control together with your planning application.
There is also a requirement upon completion of the property to submit an “as built” SAP 2005 energy rating which should incorporate any building changes that occurred during actual construction and in most cases an Air pressure test to test the actual air permeability at first fix stage of the finished property.
This information is then added to the final “as built” submission to Building Control.

Air Pressure TestingFan

I can put you in contact with a company that can perform an air permeability check on your property. This is best done when the thermal envelope is completed and first fix is complete.
